1st International Swiss-India webinar on primary cleft care in infants

 

This webinar delivered by Dr. Andreas Mueller on the concepts of passive plate therapy in infants for the partner centre in Chennai was attended by 40 members from Chennai Cleft centre, India, Nepal, UK and the teams from Basel and ETH Zurich. The participants for the webinar comprised a complete range of health care disciplines involved in the cleft care. Dr. Mueller gave a historical overview of how various pre-surgical plate therapies have evolved, each through distinct targeted outcome effects. He presented the favourable effect of passive plate therapy on the natural development of palatal morphology which subsequently facilitates the one-stage surgery of cleft lip and palate. The webinar was well received by the participants with an active interaction and exchange of ideas on different concepts of passive plate therapy and surgery in reducing the burden of care.
